Operational milestones, strategic partnerships, and quarterly impact from our programs in the Oakland/Alameda region.

Workforce Meets Wellness

Project: The Oakland PIC & Alameda Food Bank Integration

We are proud to announce a high-impact collaboration with the Oakland Private Industry Council (PIC) and the Alameda County Community Food Bank (ACCFB). This initiative bridges the gap between workforce development and food security.

  • Strategic Alignment:Leveraging Oakland PIC’s career services to provide job training for student residents while utilizing ACCFB’s distribution network to address immediate nutritional needs.
  • Economic Impact:This partnership supports the 30KJOBS4OAK Initiative, aiming to train residents for high-wage jobs that provide long-term stability against homelessness.
  • The Vision:A “closed-loop” system where students gain professional skills in food logistics and manufacturing while serving the community that supports them.

Local Food Manufacturing Launch

Project: Nutrition Production & Surplus Transformation

Moving beyond simple distribution, our program has launched a Food Manufacturing & Nutrition Lab. Inspired by successful models like the Alameda Kitchen, we are transforming surplus produce into nutrient-dense, shelf-stable meals.

  • Production Scope:Utilizing “rescued” fruits and vegetables to create affordable, healthy food products.
  • Skill-Based Volunteering:Student residents and community volunteers are trained in food safety, preservation, and large-scale culinary logistics.
  • Quality Standard:All manufactured items meet high nutritional regulations to ensure we are providing “Right Food” that promotes community wellness.

Bi-Weekly Food Giveaways

Project: Last-Mile Distribution & Emergency Relief

In response to rising food costs and CalFresh funding shifts, we have scaled our direct-to-community giveaways, coordinating with local primary resource hubs to ensure groceries reach those in food deserts and housing encampments.

  • Distribution Metrics:Our teams coordinate with local primary resource hubs to ensure groceries reach those in “food deserts” and housing encampments.
  • Volunteer Force:Each giveaway is powered by a joint force of student residents and local community volunteers, fulfilling our mission of “unlimited manpower.”
  • What’s in the Box:Fresh produce, dairy, proteins, and our own manufactured nutritional products, ensuring a balanced diet for every recipient.
